This is taken from email sent out 1/22/2025:
FYI, just sharing this information. I was able to connect to the new UDE. The only thing that is missing from this new UDE is source code for Hager customizations.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Cheers!
Joseph
Additional Information for setting up UDE.
- Need to run 2 statements below using Administrative powershell session first before running PS script:
Install-Module -Name Microsoft.PowerApps.Administration.PowerShell -force
Install-Module -Name Microsoft.PowerApps.PowerShell -AllowClobber –force
*** Additional notes can be found in devops ticket 2817 (https://dev.azure.com/hagerco/Armanino%20Managed%20Services/_workitems/edit/2817) and freshdesk ticket 66156 (https://hagercohelp.freshdesk.com/a/tickets/66156).
After UDE is created, do the following:
- Connect as D365Admin user
- Go to PPAC and then click the new UDE.
- Then go to Users and then add new users as system administrator. See images 1 and 2 below.
- Connect to FAO URL as D365 Admin and then add users who will connect to this UDE. See image 3.
- Verify new users by logging into the FAO URL. See image below.
- Verify demo data using company USMF (if option to include data was set to Yes).
- Verify Hager customizations. One way to do this is by checking menus or screens with customizations.
To setup Visual Studio to connect to the new UDE, do the following:
- In Visual Studio, download PPAC extension – Power platform tools for Visual studio.
- Once done, in VS under tools, select connect to the Dataverse. See image 4.
- Once connected, it will ask you to download metadata, etc. Answer yes. (this will be a huge download. Local PC should have at least 34GB free space).
- Once done, re-open VS and then go to extension menu verify Dynamics 365 option is now available.
- Create a Model package

Local directory where metadata information is stored:
Downloaded metadata – while being extracted to the packages folder:
UDE – hager-ude-devjo1:
UDE – hager-ude-hgrdev1:
Once metadata download is done, you will get the message below.
Visual studio will then be connected to the new UDE data.
To save local space, folders above can be changed to use an external folder, etc. (maybe on SSD?).
When selecting the option – Download Dynamics 365 FinOps asset and space is less then 16GB, message below will be displayed.
